Liujiaxia Dam, a major hydroelectric dam on the upper Yellow River, takes a break from operation in Yongjing county in the Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture in Northwest China's Gansu province, August 3. Unlike most of the other counties and cities in the drought-prone province, Yongjing, which the Yellow River runs through, boasts wealthy water resources and beautiful natural sceneries. The presence of Liujiaxia Dam, Yanguoxia Dam, Bapanxia Dam and Binglingxia Dam has propelled the county as an important water power base on the upper Yellow River. [Yan Weijue/chinadaily.com.cn] |
