The upper two photos show Huang Yamei donating knitted wool hats to children at Pagu County Primary School, in Lhasa city, the capital of Tibet autonomous region and receiving a hada, a piece of silk used as a greeting gift from one of the teachers on Oct 18. Huang, 19, is a girl of Tibetan ethnicity from Sichuan province, who now works as a network staff manager in the East China city of Shenzhen. She worked in Pagu, a county at an elevation of 4,300 meters, for four months in 2010. While there, she learned that the students lacked stationery, clothes and communication with outside world. She organized two charity performances in Shenzhen and Chengdu cities, respectively, in October, 2013 with more than 30 volunteer performers she rallied on weibo, the Chinese social-networking site. The performances attracted a 2,982 yuan ($490) donation, with which they bought 300 hats and offered them to Pagu County Primary School students. The charitable girl once rallied a group of volunteers she met online to hold a performance in Lhasa, and bought students stationery with the 3,000 yuan raised by the performance.
