Since its establishment, the Theater has put on stage 86 operas (among which 43 plays are self-created). They include foreign operas "Lady Camellia", "Street Vendor and Young Lady", originally created operas "Battle Song of the Xing'an Mountains", "Jiao Yulu", "Sisters of the Xia's", "wedding of the Hezhe People", "Embroidered Shoes", "Light and Dream", "A Deep Sigh, Head up to Heaven", "Game played in the Mountain Area", "Lady Yang's Doom at Mawei Slope", "An Zhonggen", "Sun, Balloon and Fashion Color", Troy Ross and Cray Sida", "White-haired Girl", "Liu Hulan", "Sparks", "Marriage of Xiao Erhei", "Resistance Troop of the Honghu Lake", "Sister Jiang", "Lanhua Flower", "Heart of Fragrant Grass". Eight plays of the Theater have won prizes in national, provincial and municipal competitions, among which Jiao Yulu got the 1991 Performance Award issued by the Ministry of Culture.
The Theater has co-performed with famous musicians from Germany, the ROK, Japan, the United States, Finland, and the former Soviet Union. Its singers have been to Singapore for performances, and the conductors have been to the former Soviet Union. Music play "Game Played in the Mountain Area" was put on Stage in the Soviet Union.
The Theater has fostered a group of influential artists including Li Yuwen, Shen Zhengyun, Wei Zuofan, Wang Yuncai, Yang Renyi, Liu Qing, Ding Dachuan, Chen Wancai, Sun Shenghan, Liu Keji, Chen Guanghui, Yan Chipeng, Li Chunlin, Chen Xiaosheng, Zhang Quan, Wang Shuangyin, Teng Qingquan, Li Shaoting, Qi Yan, Hu Naijun, Zhang Jinxiang, Yang Xinya, Jin Li and Li Zongwen.
