Wuhan hopes amusement park will lure tourists

City officials in Wuhan have an unusual plan to dramatically increase tourism to the capital of Hubei province: constructing a giant water-themed amusement park.

There will be "an island tourist zone", "a leisure vacation zone", "a lakeside hotel", "a country life experience zone" and "a comprehensive service zone".

The project is expected to cost 1.2 billion yuan ($173 million) and open in 2009.
