Three women rescued from hostage-taker

Updated: 2009-03-23 14:52 FUZHOU -- A man was captured by police Monday morning after holding three women hostage for more than three hours inside a pawn shop in the southeastern Chinese city of Fuzhou, police said.
The hostage drama began at 8 am when a man in his 20s took three women hostage at knifepoint, said a senior officer with the police bureau of Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Police captured him at 11:15 am, and freed the three women. None of them were injured in the incident, said police. It was unclear at this stage why the man took the women as hostages, the police officer said. |
