The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (Cheung Kong GSB) will launch a new Finance MBA program in Beijing which will kick off in October, 2009, according to a news conference last Friday.

“Learning finance during the spreading global financial crisis is also a good opportunity for China’s finance professionals to not only hone their skills, but also to re-adjust their ways of looking at the world’s financial market and learn from China’s particular perspective,” said Teng Bingsheng, Cheung Kong Associate Dean and Associate Strategy Professor.

The two-year part-time program will be delivered in Chinese, and the teaching experience will consist of in-classroom lectures, case studies, and on-site observations. To best benefit from the school’s resources, Finance MBA program participants can also join EMBA and full-time MBA students in some courses, according to Prof. Henry Cao, Academic Director of the Finance MBA program.

“The opportunity cost of studying for an MBA is relatively high in the financial industry," said Prof. Cao. "It’s the main reason that we designed a part-time program for this group of business men and women."

The new Finance MBA will supplement the current full-time 12 month MBA, meeting growing demands for business education from China’s professionals.

The program will feature Cheung Kong GSB’s top finance professors including Huang Ming, Henry Cao, Zhou Chunsheng, Mei Jianping and Liu Jing. They will share their unique observations from the research and real business world with students over the course of the two year program.
