With this move Fujian will be likely to become an important base for the cross-strait cultural exchange. CPC Fujian provincial commission's sixth session of the eighth conference held on July 28 and 29 revealed that Fujian plans to construct a cross-strait cultural industrial park and cooperation center to strengthen its relations with Taiwan. In the near future Fujian plans to cooperate with Taiwan's science and research organizations and its scientific and technical personnel to establish a science innovation platform. Research on Taiwan's geological structure is planned to be launched and an information sharing mechanism on prevention and reduction of disasters built. Fujian also plans to intensify its cooperation with Taiwan in various fields including: meteorology, architecture, water conservancy and environmental protection. To expand its cooperation with Taiwan within the education sector, Fujian plans to establish a new policy for cross-strait university cooperation, promoting credit recognition. Cross-strait cooperation within public health, medical science, technology and education is planned to also be strengthened, and new policies will be put in place to allow Taiwanese businessmen to invest in construction of Fujian hospitals. To accumulate the study of Taiwanese literature, Fujian plans to establish a Taiwan literature information center as well as developing a preserving area of Hakka culture. |
