The CHC Fujian Provincial Commission has raised the objective of Fujian realizing a 4 trillion yuan GDP by 2020. The province outlined a grand blueprint of West Strait development at the Sixth Session of the Eighth Conference held on July 28 and 29 in Fujian.

The economic aggregate of Fujian reached more than 1 trillion yuan in 2008, making the province a new member of the "Trillion GDP Club". At the same time, the economic integration of Fujian and Taiwan and breakthroughs in strait regional cooperation has formed a new pattern in cross-strait development.

With the rapid development of industry groups, urban agglomeration and port groups in the West Strait, Fujian is being built into an environmentally friendly and innovative province.

According to the conference, Fujian will realize its first goal of constructing the West Strait Economic Zone, with a per capita regional aggregate value reaching the average level of East China, and over 100 billion yuan in local financial revenue. And a transportation system serving the cross-strait "three links" will be completed soon, playing a more important role in communication across the straits.

To realize the goal of constructing the West Strait Economic Zone, Fujian will build a platform for cross-strait cooperation and modern infrastructure by forming a characteristic modern industrial system, and paying more attention to environmental protection. With these measures, the grand blueprint can be realized soon, the Commission said.
