Olympic and world champion Zhang Yining won the women's singles gold medal at the Chinese National Games in Qingdao, Shandong province on Thursday.

Zhang Yining showed her confidence from the very start of the match against Guo Yue from Liaoning Province. She led early, but finally lost the first set 16-14. The setback seemed to only boost Zhang and sparked her towards victory. Zhang came back and claimed four straight sets to seal the match, 4-1.

With the win, Zhang also becomes the second table tennis player in Chinese history to successfully defend titles in both the National Games and the Olympic Games.
