Cross-Straits tech fair to boost green business

The Eighth China Cross-Straits Technology and Projects Fair on June 18 will highlight areas for new business orientation, innovation, internationalization, cross-straits communication and financial services, said officials in Fujian at a preparation meeting of the annual event.

This year's fair will center on the State Council's development strategy in the Economic Zone on the West Coast of Taiwan Straits (Haixi) and plans formulated by local government on fourteen key industries including information technology, equipment manufacturing, petrochemical, new energy and new materials.

Experts in related industries, pioneering innovators, and holders of patented technologies with intension for cooperation will be invited to forums, such as The Green Energy Conference organized by The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Fujian Government, to initiate some model projects.

"Technological innovations in low carbon technologies, new materials, and logistic network will be the highlight of the fair," said Zheng Shanjie, Director of the Fujian Development and Reform Commission. "For instance, Department of Intellectual Property will put over 1,000 patents on display from nationwide and overseas."

Participation of colleges, scientific research institutions, and industrial organizations from Taiwan is another feature of the event. Interactions across the straits in agriculture and the automobile industry are scheduled in the days to come.

Meanwhile, organizers of the event will forge cooperation with more overseas organizations such as Enterprise Europe Network, Poland Investment Accelerating Bureau, and overseas Chinese groups to promote the global recognition of the event.

To ensure smooth financial transactions, the People's Bank in Fuzhou has set up special service for the fair. 39 financial institutions, twice as many as last year, will guarantee all around financial services to the event.

"In the past seven years the fair has introduced over 40,000 technological achievements from 1,500 scientific research institutions, in which over 20,000 has been put into production in Fujian," said Zheng, "This has provided strong technological support to the development of Haixi."
