GUANGZHOU- Students from foreign universities are for the first time taking part in the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

Coming from two universities in Australia and Singapore, they join more than 51,000 students from the 1,193 colleges from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in the three-day contest, which is a yearly event launched in 1992, said Chen Shuping, deputy director of the organizing committee on Friday.

The organizer expects more foreign universities to participate in the contest in the future as it seeks more exchanges with foreign institutions, Chen said.
