HKU-Fudan MBA (International) Programme Graduation Ceremony - New phase for Management Leaders Nurtured by the Joint Force of Two Universities
With congratulations of the senior management of both the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Fudan University (Fudan), the Graduation Ceremony 2010 of the HKU-Fudan MBA (International) Programme was successfully held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre on November 20.
The Graduation Ceremony, while retaining the traditional HKU proceedings, actualized the spirit of Fudan graduates in their earnestness of knowledge pursuit, as well as the love for their alma mater. The Ceremony was conducted in a solemn ambience with the participation of close to 600 graduates and their family members.
The eleventh batch of IMBA graduates, in which 131 were from the General Stream, 117 from the Executive Stream and 51 from the China Commercial Bank class, were each conferred an IMBA degree by the University of Hong Kong in the ceremony.
The 299 graduates were from a wide spectrum of academic background and various industries. The graduates, whose undergraduate major varied from Art, Economics and Management to Engineering, Science and Medicine, were now serving in various sectors including the finance, manufacturing, real estate, construction, telecommunications, consultancy, education, entertainment, government, health care, retail trading, charity organization and logistics sectors.
The IMBA Graduation Ceremony, which commenced at 9.30 in the morning in the solemnly decorated arena of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, was declared open by Professor Roland T. Chin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of the University of Hong Kong. Graduates in HKU academic dress mounted the stage orderly to be capped by Professor Chin of HKU and be presented a study certification by Professor Ji Yonghao, Vice-President of Fudan.
Professor Chin gave a keynote speech at the Ceremony, followed by Professor Gu Yunsen, Standing Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Fudan. Professor remarked: “This year we farewell our eleventh batch of graduates. It is a glorious new page in history of both HKU and Fudan. With aspirations and blessings, you, graduates, not only have accomplished your study, but also inherited our value – our dream has come true because of you; and our pursuance has been extended through your striving for success.”
The graduation lunch reception was kicked off at midday with the toasting of Professor Eric C. Chang, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics of HKU, and Professor Gu Yunshen, Standing Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Fudan, who showed their deepest congratulations to the graduates and their family members. During the lunch reception, the results of Teaching Awards and Outstanding Graduate Awards, as well as other awards elected by graduates, were announced and presented to the awardees by the senior management of both the Faculty of Business and Economics of HKU and the School of Management of Fudan. Graduates performed numerous variety shows such as singing and dancing. The song “True Hero”, which engaged all the participants in singing, brought the event to the climax.
The HKU-Fudan IMBA Graduation Ceremony came to a conclusion at 1:30 p.m. The Ceremony was not only a recollection of the days in the previous two years, but also a juncture for further planning. May we extend our good wishes to all the 2010 IMBA graduates for even more promising days ahead.
