SHANGHAI - Oneworld, the leading global airline alliance, launched its first marketing drive in Chinese mainland in the metropolis on Thursday to provide a special offer for frequent flyers.

Customers signing up for Asia Miles and then flying on any oneworld member airline between January 17 and April 17 2011 will receive a 1,000 Asia Miles bonus from Cathay Pacific, said Akira Mori, Oneworld Regional Market Development Manager Asia.

If they fly on any two Oneworld member airlines during the three months of the promotion, they will receive double Asia Miles for their flights, said Mori.

"China is today one of the world's biggest regions for air travel demand, yet awareness of the advantages that airline offers is low in comparison with most other places," he said.

"This exciting campaign is designed to put that right, and make clear all the benefits that Oneworld offers travelers in this important part of the world, with the overall aim of increasing market share for oneworld and our member airlines."

Oneworld which operates a combined fleet of almost 2,500 aircraft serves 900 airports in nearly 150 countries to carry 340 million passengers a year.
