A new battery technology has been born in the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone in the capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Chengdu Huang Ming Lithium Power Technology Co., Ltd., owner of the technology, gave a detailed introduction to the project on Thursday in a conference attended by academicians and experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Beijing Nonferrous Metal Research Institute, Peking University and Xiangtan University.

Conference attendees said that the technology could greatly increase the number of cycles of the battery.

Take the electric vehicle car battery for example. The life span of the traditional electric car battery is about one to two years, while the battery using the new technology would prolong the life span to five years and would reduce the cost of the entire battery by 15 percent.
