"We need to accelerate the construction of Taiwan Farmer's Pioneer Park, for we possess the advantages of Fujian's close distance to Taiwan both geographically and culturally," said Liu.

In the past years, Fujian had launched a series of pilot agricultural projects which proved to be very successful, though there are difficulties ahead on the path to development.

"Fuqing, Yongan and Huian County in Fujian province are regions with high potential for establishing national-level agricultural pioneer parks. We suggest that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Taiwan Affairs Office grant permission to develop these regions," Liu said.

In order to achieve what is expected, the relevant authorities need to give increased financial assistance to infrastructure projects such as hydroelectric power and allocate special funds to seed stock and breeding, technology extension, as well as to training in order to advance the construction of the parks.

"We need to provide incentives and issue detailed implementation guidelines so as to carry out the projects," said Liu.
