Mainland tourists can order Taiwan taxis by Dazhong

SHANGHAI -- Shanghai Dazhong Transportation Group joined hands with www.Taiwan Taxi.com.tw by signing an agreement on Monday to provide the taxi-ordering service for tourists from the city and the island.

"The move is aimed at giving a helping hand to the individual tour of Taiwan, which will start on June 28," said Yang Guoping, chairman of the Shanghai Dazhong Transportation Group. "The cooperation will surely help smooth the tour and make tourists more convenient," said Yang.

Dazhong opened its www.96822.com on Monday to make it possible for local tourists to order Taiwan taxis online before their departure, said Li Weitao, senior manager in charge of the website.

Tourists can also dial 96822 to order Taiwan taxis, but they should provide information involving flight number, arriving time and hotels they will stay in Taiwan, Li said.

"Our taxi call center will send the information to the Taiwan side which will make things ready, It will tell customers the result after receiving the reply from Taiwan," said Li, adding that drivers will pick up tourists at Taiwan airports.

The same is to Taiwan tourists to Shanghai, who can also dial 55688 to call Taiwan Taxi Co to order Shanghai taxis, he said.

As the largest taxi company in Taiwan with more than 11,000 taxis, Taiwan Taxi Co has prepared 1,000 buses for tourists from the mainland to tour the island's 36 sightseeing lines, said Gary Lin, chairman of www.Taiwan Taxi.com.tw.
