The Chengdu Hi-tech Zone in Chengdu, the capital city of Southwest China's Sichuan province, announced on Friday that it would recruit top-notch personnel in electronic information, biomedical and precision machinery sectors in the next five years.
The Hi-tech Zone, established 20 years ago, is one of the first batch of state-level high-tech zones approved by the Chinese government.
In 1991, the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone had only three employees and a planned area of 2.5 square kilometers.
Now it covers 130 square kilometers and has electronic information, biomedical and precision machinery sectors as its pillar industries, said Zhang Xueguo, the first chief of the administrative committee of the zone.
