The 2011 Overseas High-ech & High-end Talent Fair and Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Summit will be held in Chengdu city from October 16 to 18, according to the Sichuan Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office on October 11. About 500 people will participate in the activity, including overseas Chinese, famous entrepreneurs, delegates and officials of overseas Chinese societies from 30 countries and regions, as well as people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The activity will focus on the theme of "gathering overseas competitive talents, funds and technologies to develop high-end industrial technologies in West China." It is one of the major events of the 12th West China International Expo. The activity is sponsored by the Sichuan provincial party committee, provincial government, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

It is being undertaken by the provincial organization department, provincial overseas Chinese affairs office, and overseas Chinese federation, and Chengdu municipal party committee and municipal government.

It stresses introducing talents and tackling key technological problems for enterprises. It sets three platforms for talent introduction, project cooperation, and academic and information exchanges. It sets eye on the demands of talents and intelligence for strategically emerging industries, "spire" industries, and “7+3” industries, and holds a list of activities.

They include the meeting for introducing talents and promoting investment opportunities, fair for overseas high-tech projects and high-end talents, ceremony for signing contracts to introduce overseas talents and projects, seminar on making innovations and establishing businesses in Chengdu, forum on introducing overseas talents as consultants, international forum on developing biological medicines, and high-end interviews on “Chinese businesses and new opportunities from West China Development" and "talent development and innovation city construction."
