SHANGHAI - More than 200 local hotels gathered together on Wednesday to discuss the way of how to apply the mobile Internet technology to their revenue management.

The gathering, sponsored by www.HotelVP.com and HUBS1, an influential online distribution company in China hotel industry, is a great promotion of the hotel tonight specials model, helping hotels recognize its value to them, said Eva Qi, HUBS1 marketing manager. A panel discussion themed hotel revenue management in the mobile Internet era was held to echo the gathering.

Li Yan, an expert from China Mobile, said www.HotelVP.com has gained an initial success in applying mobile technology to the reservation service from its soft operation last week, bringing about 300,000 users.

"It indicates the mobile reservation market has great potential to tap," said Li.

The service of hotel tonight specials means users can order rooms online from starred hotels by using mobile phones at a discount price at six every evening and meanwhile, hotels can sell their remnant rooms.

"If hotels are able to make full use of this new sales model, they can reduce costs for more profits," Li said.

Local hotels such as Jinjiang Hotel Management Group, Interstate China, Jinjiang Inn and Motel 168 will give great support to the new model and some which have started cooperation with www.HotelVP.com are confident about the model.

"Some well-known websides have also showed great interest in the market, in hopes of cooperating with us," said Deng Tianzuo, chief executive officer of www.HotelVP.com.
