More than 500 farmer-turned artists from more than 20 provinces are giving performances in vocal music, dance, drama, comedy, instrumental music, melodrama in the city of Dazhou, Sichuan province.

With the theme "Harmonious Stage and Happy Countryside", the three-day performances which kicked off on Nov 18 is sponsored by the Chinese Society of Mass Culture, Sichuan provincial department of culture and Dazhou municipal government.

During the performances, a competition featuring photos taken by farmers nationwide will be held, films featuring the countryside will be shown and a book fair pertaining to the rural subject will be held.
