Tongli ancient town celebrates the Spring Festival

To celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, which begins on Jan 23 and enriches the cultural life of local people, Suzhou’s Tongli ancient town plans to put on a series of folk performances. The detailed plan is as follows:

I. Road show

1. Tuisi Garden: Players of “Fu Lu Shou (which translates to Good Fortune (Fu), Prosperity (Lu), and Longevity (Shou)” will wish visitors a happy new year (Jan 23 to Jan 25; 9am-11:30am, 1pm-3:30pm).

2. Tuisi Square: A traditional opera performance ( Jan 23 to Jan 28; 9:30am-11am, 1pm-3pm).

3. San Bridge: Visitors will see players carry traditional sedans (9am-4pm, all year)

4. Tuisi Square: “Receiving the God of Fortune” activity (Jan 27, 9:30am-10:30am)

II. The flowing performances will take place from Jan 23 to Jan 28; 9am-11am, 1pm-4pm

1. Tuisi Square and main traveling routes: Folk performances, including lion dancing, dragon dancing and flower-carrying dancing.

III. Interactive activities

Guessing lantern riddles at Tuisi Square (Jan 23 to Jan 25)

IV. Activities to celebrate the Lantern Festival

1. Gala at Tuisi Square

2. Guessing lantern riddles
