Longquan Mountain, is about 15 kilometers east of downtown Chengdu along the Chengdu-Chongqing expressway.
Longquan Mountain is located in Longquanyi town on the eastern gate of Chengdu Plain.
Many flowers, trees and fruits of Chengdu grow on the mountain. It also is one of the three most famous molasses peach production bases in China. It has been developed into a city level scenic spot.
The Longquan Mountain has an area of 230 square kilometers, stretching 18 kilometers from north to south, and 13 kilometers from east to west. The Chengdu-Chongqing expressway tunnel passes through the central part.
Longquan Mountain's forest cover roughly 50 square kilometers of its area. It is home to 400 varieties of fruits, including the molasses peach, pears, apples, loquats, and grapes. The molasses peach is known for its large size, thin skin, bright color and abundant juices.
The scenic spot has recently introduced famous breeds of Kyoho grapes, Dongting loquats and Datian plums. Each spring, when peach and pear blossoms are in full bloom, the whole mountain looks bright and beautiful. It is a fine destination for a spring outing.
The scenic spot contains many sites with high historical and calligraphy values. This includes the King Wenwang Stele in Northern Zhou Dynasty (AD 557-581), the King Xiwang Mausoleum in Shu Dynasty (AD 221-263), and the cliff side sculptures.
At the back of the temple stands a grand ancient stone scripture temple surrounded by towering old trees. It has been repaired to receive tourists. The scenic spot also has aquatic amusement facilities including Baigong weir, the Shanmen Temple reservoir, and the Longquan Lake for water rafting and swimming in.
