Dalian has launched the major projects that will be done in 2012 to bring benefits to the citizens.

The list covers 16 items, involving social walfare, food safety, urban transportation, and other aspects of the people’s livelihood.

Local government selected the items from the suggestions that collected through letters and online discussion since November 1, 2011.

It aims to improve the transparency of government work, promote public participation, and concentrate financial, material and human resources to effectively solve the problems that citizens concern most.

This year, Dalian will provide 28,000 affordable apartments ( in contrast with commercial housing), averagely increase the pension of retired employees by 10 percent, and set up 90 community nursing centers for the aged.

For the safety in production of the dangerous chemicals, Dalian will construct and improve a national-level emergency rescue base (Phase I) and will establish an emergency rescue system and social interaction system.

Other items covered in the list include optimizing bus network, increasing 3,000 temporary parking spaces, setting up 50 kindergartens, constructing 20 organic aquatic production bases, and enhancing the system for quality detection and product traceability of aquatic food.
