The Chengdu municipal government in Sichuan province has signed an agreement with China Telecom to build the latter's western China cloud computing base in Chengdu.
With the total investment registering about 10 billion yuan, the base consists of the western IDC (Internet Data Center), mobile Internet, smart city, triple play, Internet of Things and large data disaster recovery center.
It marks that Chengdu has become the third core node of China Telecom's IDC and cloud computing operations center after Shanghai and Guangzhou. With the implementation of the country's new round of the western development strategy, western China is becoming a hot spot of China's economic development.
In July 2011, China Telecom decided to choose the site for its western cloud computing base in the western region.
Thanks to its geographical advantages, abundant supply of talent and clear cloud computing industry development plan, Chengdu became the site.
