Bosch lays cornerstone for new plant in Chengdu

On Feb 14, 2012, Bosch, one of the world's top 500 enterprises and the biggest global car parts and accessories manufacturer, held a cornerstone laying ceremony for its chassis systems control new plant – the Bosch Automotive Products (Chengdu) Co Ltd in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
Sun Guozhong, vice president of sales for chassis systems control in Bosch China, said the new plant is the second production base in China with an area of 12.67 hectares and a total investment of $137 million. The plant will be completed in March 2013, with about 500 employees in Chengdu.
The new plant's first phase project will mainly produce Antilock Braking Systems (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and wheel speed sensors. As many as 1.4 million ABS/ESPs and 19 million sets of wheel speed sensors are expected to be produced annually, which can be used in the high-end car production of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Toyota.
The other new plant for chassis systems control was put into operation in September of 2011 in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. By 2013, the Chengdu plant will account for 25 to 30 percent of the total capacity compared to Suzhou's 70 to 75 percent. The Chengdu plant will provide products and services mainly for the clients in Middle, South and West China.
