The Fortune Global Forum 2013 will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan province in China.

It will be the 12th grand gathering for Fortune Magazine. As a prestigious financial and economic conference, it selected China for the fourth time and a city in western China for the first time.

An official from the forum stated that Chengdu is an engine city of large-scale development of the western region that possesses huge potential and more space for economic growth, powerful innovations, unique cultural ethos, rich experiences with international conferences and good government services.

Presently, China remains at the corner of social reconstruction and a critical period of reformation. Following the fast developments of the globalized economy, the world is becoming more integrated.

He who knows the trends of economic development and seizes opportunities will stand out. It is getting more significant whether the government can create a good environment for economic development.

According to the trend, Chengdu has deepened reforms, optimized the investment environment and provided efficient and high-quality modern government services that are in line with global practices.

In 2001, Chengdu took the national lead in building a standard service-oriented government and optimized functions by reducing administrative approval items to raise efficiency.

The number of administrative bodies in all departments was reduced from 179 to 48.

Chengdu set up the first government service center in the nation for provincial and municipal governments to realize one-stop handling of administrative affairs.

Chengdu started the “one-window parallel examination and approval” program in 2007, which claimed to be the “second revolution” of administrative functions.

The approach could save on administrative costs for human resources, travel, paper and others but also a changed service concept from passive service “the people run errands” to initiative service “the government runs the errands.”

The “Online Government Affair Hall” – an open and transparent operating platform at Chengdu Administrative Power website opened in 2010.

The 48th Chengdu Symposium of Enterprises with Foreign Investment was launched on March 29. The symposium has been held once a quarter since 2003.

Through deepening reforms and optimizing government affairs, Chengdu inspires much potential. It has created more convenient services for economic development.

Also from reforms, more enterprises believe in the sincerity of the local government.

Chengdu is established as an efficient and small government for a large society.

Local government officials endorse political achievements and a scientific outlook on development reflecting human oriented concepts for local economic development.

In the new era, Chengdu can achieve leapfrog developments as a global city.
