Today, Andy Serwer, chief editor of Fortune announced that the Fortune Global Forum 2013 will return to China in the city of Chengdu.

The forum was launched in 1995. In the past thirteen years, it was held in the nation three times, including Shanghai in 1999, Hong Kong in 2001 and Beijing in 2005.

Currently, the world economy is sluggish and has yet to walk out of the shadows of the financial crisis.

The Fortune Global Forum remains a window to show the latest trends of the global economy. It casts more attention to the “New Future of China.”

The theme is “New Future of China.” It will focus on the evolution of the domestic economy, development of the western region and its new role in a global vision.

The central topics include: a century of China, resources solutions, innovations and technology, as well as the global financial and economic recovery.

An official from the Fortune Global Forum explained that Chengdu is an engine driver of large-scale development of the western region that possesses huge potential for economic growth, powerful innovations, unique cultural ethos, rich experiences in hosting global conferences and good government services.

“China is on the leading edge of global business,” Andy Serwer said. All signs of development indicate western China will become the next hotspot of the economic recovery.

Foreigners are taking a different look at China. Many people think Chengdu has a lagging gap from coastal cities due to its geographic location.

However, since the implementation of large-scale development of the western region in 2000, Chengdu has been making unremitting efforts to expand.

It has transformed from a closed inland city into a low-lying land for development and home to more than 200 of the top 500 global enterprises that is attracting huge global investments.

Chengdu may still have a long way to go, but many opportunities are available and the Fortune Global Forum will shine a bright light on the city in 2013..
