Tianjin’s International Contemporary Art Exhibition kicks off

The International Contemporary Art Exhibition, part of the third Tianjin Port Tourism Culture Festival, began on June 27 in Tianjin Port Museum. The exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of Tianjin port’s reopening.

The exhibition displays more than 100 works of art from 16 artists worldwide. Its cultural diversity impresses and attracts the public.

Among the displays, 170 pieces valued at 100 million yuan are scheduled to be auctioned on August 8. The pieces, created by contemporary Chinese artists, mainly involve purple clay, pottery, calligraphy, painting, and carvings made from jade, agate and roots.

Yu Rumin, chairman of the Tianjin Port Group, and Liu Fengsong, vice president of the Tianjin People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, cut the ribbon. Leaders of the Tianjin Port Group, officials, and artists from home and abroad attended the opening ceremony.

This event is jointly sponsored by the Tianjin Municipal Publicity Department, Tianjin Tourism Bureau, Tianjin People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Tianjin Port Group and the press magazine sponsored by People’s Daily. The event is co-organized by the publicity department of Tianjin Port Group, the Culture and Media Corporation of Tianjin Port, the China Baoli Art Portal and the Tianjin Huitai Cultural Development Corporation.
