Chengdu recently held an awards ceremony to promote the development of philosophy and social science and to encourage more research achievements in those fields.
One-hundred "outstanding" awards were granted at the ceremony. Another 50 research projects were selected for their excellent achievement in Chengdu's social science community.
"Philosophy and social science research is indispensable for city construction and development," said an official at the meeting. "The transformation of these achievements will accelerate Chengdu's transformation to become a growth pole of western China."
The award-winning philosophical book General History of Chengdu is the city's first history monograph that tells the city's 1,000-year history.
The Fortune Global Forum in 2013 will also bring more global attention to Chengdu. The city is facing a crucial strategic opportunity. Some of the awarded works also provide ideas for Chengdu's modernization and internationalization, such as International Marketing Strategies for Chengdu – creating a top garden city in the world.
Awarded winners also focused on Chengdu's urban and rural integration development, local culture and history research, and many other topics.
