A public security officer in Anhui province was brought to trial for accepting 150,000 yuan ($24,000) in bribes and forging an identity card, which he used to conceal his illegal earnings, Anhui-based Star News reported on Jan 18.

Tao Yong was the director of the public security bureau of Fengyang county in Anhui from 2009 to 2012.

According to the report, in February 2011, in order to open a bank account to conceal his assets, Tao ordered his subordinates to make him an ID card, on which nothing but the photo was his own.

With the fake ID, Tao opened a bank account in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, and another one in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province. The two bank accounts were used to deposit money he received from illegal earnings.

Tao pleaded guilty to the charges. The verdict will be announced at a later date.
