Sichuan's industrial zone crosses 200b yuan for first time

The gross industrial output of Chengdu High-Tech Zone reached 223 billion yuan ($35.77 billion) in 2012, making it the first 200 billion yuan industrial zone in Sichuan province, according to an announcement at the zone's work conference on Feb 4.

The total added value of industrial enterprises with an annual revenue above 5 million yuan in the high-tech zone was 52.02 billion yuan in 2012, about one-fifth that of the whole city.

Chengdu High-Tech Zone has been leading the development of Chengdu and Sichuan since its establishment. In 2012, the zone's foreign processing trade volume and high-tech industry added value accounted for 80 percent and one-third of the whole province's, respectively.

Patent applications in the high-tech zone exceeded 10,000 last year.

The high-tech zone's GDP reached 87.89 billion yuan in 2012 and is expected to reach 100 billion yuan in 2013.
