The 2013 Chengdu Rural Tourism Festival kicked off on March 22 in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province.
This year's festival is organized by Chengdu's Wenjiang district, a national demonstration area for recreational agriculture and rural tourism recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Tourism Administration.
The annual event aims at promoting recreational agriculture and boosting rural tourism in Chengdu. The district will launch seven major activities in the coming 40 days, including photographing activities, photo exhibitions, spring outings, and bike rides on the "Greenway".
Wenjiang district is famous for its "Greenway", which winds through more than 200 kilometers of fields. The district also has 10,000 hectares of flowers and trees and about 666 hectares of organic farmland.
