The China Environmental Monitoring Station released an air quality report for 74 cities in April. Compared with March, Guiyang's severe pollution decreased by 6.7 percent, ranking among the top 11 nationwide.

An environmental expert said: "The weather conditions in April are good in regards to the diffusion of PM2.5. The Guiyang Environmental Protection Department also strengthened air pollution management and supervision resulting in improved air quality in April."

Since the end of March this year, Guiyang's Ecological Civilization Construction Committee, the Guiyang Bureau of Housing and Urban, and the Guiyang Urban Management Bureau have launched various environmental management mechanisms, including motor vehicle gas pollution management, road dust management and industrial waste gas management mechanisms.
