Guizhou, situated in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, is proud of its abundant water and wetland resources. It features 6,000-km underground streams, a unique ecosystem with karst landforms and wetlands that are home to diverse birds and many aquatic creatures.
In recent years, the Guizhou provincial government has taken various measures to conserve and recover wetlands, improve the eco-environment and attract more tourists, said Li Ping, head of the Guizhou Provincial Forestry Department.
To date, several terraces, six wetland reserves and four national wetland parks have been constructed to protect biodiversity, as well as improve eco-environment quality. Guizhou is a popular summer resort for tourists and a beautiful paradise for photographers.
