Escape the summer heat in Chengdu

Xiling Snow Mountain, is a famous scenic resort in Dayi county, about 95 kilometers from Chengdu. The main peak stands at 5,364 meters above sea level and is snowcapped. It's also a good choice for people seeking cooler temperatures during the summer. Moreover, the resort administration has adopted a free-ticket policy for visitors this summer and no tickets are required for visitors through November 30.

How to get there: There are tourist buses which go from Xinnanmen and Jinsha bus stations every morning to the resort. There's also a highway connecting Dujiangyan and the scenic area.

Jiulong Gou, or Nine-Dragon Ditch, is a good choice for summer vacation travel from Chengdu. The highest peak at this scenic area is about 3,900 meters. It is located in the town of Sanlang in Chongzhou, 76km from Chengdu.

How to get there: There are shuttle buses to Jiulong Gou at the passenger transportation center and Jinsha bus station in Chengdu.

Jiufeng Mountain, or Nine-Peak Mountain, is named for the nine major peaks of the mountainous area of Dabao township in Pengzhou, 31 km from Chengdu. Its cool climate during the summer makes it one of the top choices of local residents for their summer vacation.

How to get there: The resort area is 58 km from Pengzhou. There are shuttle buses to Pengzhou at the passenger transportation center in Chengdu and you can take buses at the passenger transportation center in Pengzhou to the resort area. Or you can even take a taxi if you so choose.

Tiantai Mountain is also a good summer vacation destination. Located in Qionglai, a county-level city under Chengdu, the mountainous area is also one of Sichuan's giant panda sanctuaries. "Fun with water" is a summer tourist slogan of the Tiantai Mountain.

How to get there: Tourist buses to the Tiantai Mountain scenic area at Xinnanmen bus station depart Chengdu every morning.
