The Guiyang municipal government and the administrative committee of Beijing Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park held a press conference on August 28, and pledged to cooperate, adhering to the principle of “complementary advantages, win-win cooperation and coordinated development”.
The two sides are expected to learn from the experience of each other, explore and improve the current policy system, support the development of the science and technology park, promote technological innovation, propel the industry-university-research integration, strengthen scientific and financial cooperation - and establish a long-term exchange and cooperation mechanism. The two sides have already signed 54 projects worth a total of 437 billion yuan ($7.1 billion).
Zhongguancun is an important national innovation demonstration zone, and is home to nearly 20,000 high-tech enterprises and 224 listed companies. Major companies in Zhongguancun achieved a total of 2.5 trillion yuan ($408.5 billion) of annual turnover in 2012.
Guiyang is a National Ecological Demonstration City and a National Innovation Pilot City, and it plays a crucial role in the implementation of the Western Development Strategy initiated by the central government.
Li Zaiyong, mayor of Guiyang, said at the press conference that the cooperation between the two sides will help bring about the integration between innovation-driven development and ecological preservation.
Bai Zhiyong, deputy director of the administrative committee of Zhongguancun, said the science and technology park will help Guiyang to achieve the optimization of resource allocation and to develop modern service industries.
