Young Chinese divers met no strong challenge as they won all four gold medals on the first day of the East Asian Games here on Monday, Oct 7.
Yu Longji claimed the men's 3m springboard in 489.70 points with teammate Cai Chengcheng in third place in 410.20. Ikamoto Yu from Japan was second in 428.80.
In the women's 1m springboard, the 19-year-old Tian Hong pulled off a perfect fifth and last dive, beating her 21-year-old teammate Zheng Shuangxue into second. Tian totaled 292.90 points while Zheng had 290.75. Chan Shanrong from Hong Kong, China, took a bronze in 277.55.
Gao Ang and Hu Qiyuan topped the men's 10m platform synchro in 446.64, beating Woo Haram and Kim Yeongnam from South Korea and Kim Sun Bom and So Myong Hyok from DPR Korea.
Xing Yiying dominated the women's 10m platform in 358.85, while Kim Un Hyang of DPR Korea came second with Chinese Ke Tingting finishing third.
There will be four events for October 8 - women's 3m springboard and 10m platform synchro, and men's 1m springboard and 10m platform.
