Many university students came to acquire information about study programs in Germany during Germany Higher Education Day which was held at Tianjin's Nankai University on Nov 5.
A total of 17 German universities - including the Technical University of Munich, University of Jena, and Aachen University - and also various agencies, were available to answer questions about studying in Germany.
Small banners that read “Welcome to Germany!” were displayed in the hall of Xingshen Building.
German universities aim to attract Chinese students and Ron Kerin, principal of Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, said: “Among all the international students studying in Germany, Chinese students are the most excellent by achieving an 80 percent graduation rate, compared with the 77 percent of local German students. So we warmly welcome Chinese students.”
Han Ming, a student at Tianjin Foreign Studies University with a major in German, said that he would like to attend the University of Cologne because their liberal arts majors are considered to be the best in the country
He also said that universities in Germany have several advantages – compared to universities in China – such as elective courses and many course majors.
Yan Yumin, liaison officer for the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, said that the school is one of the top five German institutes of higher education and its finance major is the best in the country. He also said that the school aims to help students improve their ability to apply their knowledge in the real world and also to acquire business management skills. And he added that candidates should be able to demonstrate that they are well-rounded individuals.
