Officials recently attended the opening ceremony of Zhongguancun Fangshan Science Park - and also signed a strategic cooperation agreement between the Zhongguancun Development Group and the Fangshan district government - at Changyang CSD commercial Square in Fangshan.
Fangshan aims to turn the park into the "Zhongguancun Southern Innovative Demonstration Area" and, according to the agreement between Zhongguancun Development Group and Fangshan district government, the two sides will also join hands to develop the Zhongguancun Yanqing Science Park.
At the end of 2012, the State Council adjusted the scale and space planning of Zhongguancun Science Park, turning its policy of "ten sub-parks in the science park" into "sixteen sub-parks in the science park". An area of 15.73 square kilometers in Fangshan district was then officially included in the science park, including the Beijing Petrochemical New Material Technology Industrial Base, the Beijing High-End Manufacturing Base, the Higher Education Zone and other major industrial bases and functional zones.
The park involves 140 enterprises, covering an area of about 777.8 hectares, with an investment of 36.28 billion yuan ($6 billion), and 10.815 billion yuan general assets. In addition, 65 enterprises in the park have received the Zhongguancun High and New Technology Enterprises Certificate.
According to the "Cooperation Framework Agreement about the Development of Zhongguancun Fangshan Science Park" signed by Zhongguancun Development Group and Fangshan district government, they will also make joint effort in developing the Zhongguancun Yanqing Science Park.
The two sides are also expected to conduct discussions on the detailed policies for developing the Fangshan Science Park, including issues relating to land development, import of major projects, industrial base development and management.
