Sanya's urban management officers are informing people on Dadonghai beach not to swim or sunbath naked, China News Service reported on Friday.

Officers are showing a notice to beachgoers that asks them to follow rules and not sunbath or swim naked in public sea areas or on public beaches. Those who violate the rules will be fined accordingly.

A Sanya resident, surnamed Zhou, told China News Service that nudists, who were mostly visitors, had frequented the beach for years. The number of nudists sometimes reached more than 100.

Zhou said he was afraid to take his daughter to walk past the area and he hoped the government would completely ban such behavior in public.

Sanya, Hainan province, is a popular tourist destination in South China, and famous for its beaches and sunshine.
