Zhongguancun International Lecture Hall hosts first session of 2014

Experts from institutions such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the World Bank took part on Jan 23 in this year's first series of lectures at the Zhongguancun International Lecture Hall, with a theme relating to cooperation among international financing institutions on climate change.

The lecture series is an initiative of the Zhongguancun Science Park, and over 70 entrepreneurs from the park and representatives of its 16 sub-parks attended the activity – which also involved interaction between the speakers and members of the audience.

Su Wei, who is in charge of climate change issues at the National Development and Reform Commission, gave a lecture titled "International cooperation and climate change", Jian Xiaoming, director of international cooperation at the Ministry of Science and Technology, spoke about "Scientific innovation from an international perspective", and Garo Batmanian, chief environmental expert and director of agriculture, forest and environment at the World Bank, spoke about "The World Bank and low-carbon economy & sustainable development".

This year's lecture series was co-held by the Zhongguancun administrative committee and the FT Chinese website - the only Chinese-language commerce and finance network owned by the Financial Times. The two sides cooperated on the choice of topic, the experts invited to participate, and the promotion of the event – with the aim of making it a world-class learning and communication platform for enterprises in the Zhongguancun Science Park.
