In January 2007, the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC joined as one of the hosts of the ICIF. The event’s function as an export platform for Chinese cultural products and services was further strengthened.

On May 17, the third ICIF was held in the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

Li Tieying, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Chen Zhili, the state councilor; Li Congjun, deputy director of the CPC Publicity Department; Ding Wei, assistant minister of the Ministry of Culture; Chong Quan, assistant to the Minister of the Ministry of Commerce; Hu Zhanfan, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television; Liu Binjie, chief of the General Administration of Press and Publication; Sun Shoushan, deputy director of the General Administration of Press and Publication; Zhang Dejiang, secretary-general of the Guangdong provincial committee; Huang Huahua, governor of the Guangdong provincial government; and Li Hongzhong, secretary-general of the Shenzhen municipal committee, were on hand at the opening ceremony.

The eight specialized exhibition halls of the third ICIF attracted 1,639 enterprises and organizations. The number of professional visitors reached 38,000, among which overseas visitors amounted to 9,500. The trading volume reached 49.91 billion yuan ($7.99 billion).

In addition, the session’s ICIF officially started using a unified cultural image recognition system and database system, building the brand image of the ICIF.
