Urumqi is linked with most of the major cities throughout China via air. Daily connection to main tourist cities such as Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Guilin are available. The airport also has several regional routes connecting the capital city with other tourist destinations within the region. There are flights to Korla, Kuqa, Aksu, Kashgar, Hotan, Yining. The airport is 20 kilometers out of the city. Visitors can either take a shuttle bus from the entrance of the Red Hill Park or catch a taxi there.

City Transportation
Taxi is the most comfortable and convenient means to travel around the city. The flagfall is 6 yuan ($0.93)and around 1.5 yuan ($0.23) is added for every additional km.
Coach/Bus Transport
Xinjiang has a comprehensive highway network with Urumqi as its center. The sprawling road network takes passengers to every corner of the region. Some remote area which are inaccessible via train and air can be reached by bus services. The city is served by several bus stations, each associated with a different destination city. Check with a local travel agent or hotel attendant to make sure you go to the right station for your destination.
