Tourists brave the heat to visit Turpan desert

On August 8, early autumn in the Turpan Depression is still bringing in tourists despite the burning heat. And according to personnel from the Kumtag Desert Scenic Area Administration, the daily average of more than 3,000 visitors is increasing as summer is perceived to be passing.

Turpan is China's lowest point below sea level, situated in Xinjiang. It is also the closest city to the Kumtag desert, a tourist site spanning 1,880 square kilometers. It's a popular place for donkey riding and off-road driving, as well as an artistic paradise for photographers.
