Dear friends from the press,
Good morning!
I will briefly introduce the preparation for news reporting during this CAEXPO and CABIS. By now, a total of 1,541 reporters from 198 media agencies have come to report on this grand event, among which 105 reporters are from 73 ASEAN media agencies. Based on experiences from the past decade, this year, we will provide more considerate, convenient and efficient news services for friends from the press in the following aspects.
Quick sharing of text, pictures and videos of various activities
We will continue to set up the "Online News Center" on the official website of the CAEXPO, providing three categories of news materials:
News materials of various events
Within 30 minutes after the closure of important activities, such as the opening ceremony, news articles in both Chinese and English and pictures will be provided for the media. Within two hours after VIP interviews, videos and Chinese scripts will be provided. For other activities, text and pictures will be provided within two hours, and video will be provided on the same night. In this way, we hope to meet the demands of reporters, especially those who cannot have on-site interviews. Currently, scripts of highlights and some news materials have already been uploaded.
Standard news materials
We have already uploaded the standard news materials, brief introduction of the 2014 CAEXPO, slogans, pictures and video clips to the Online News Center for your easy access.
Materials from previous CAEXPO
The materials of the previous CAEXPO include texts, pictures, e-journals and videos.
Timely release of information on every event for friends from the press to follow
We will make announcements in advance about the relevant information and important events through the Guidebook for the Press, the Online News Center, SMS, news centers, correspondent billboards, and the newsflash of the CAEXPO. Reporters will be informed of the activities arrangements on the next day via SMS and be reminded to download news clips at the Online News Center. For foreign reporters who can't receive SMS, we will inform their translators of relevant information.
Establishing efficient news centers for comprehensive news service
The news centers will be set up at the NICEC and correspondents' residence. The news center fully reflects the elements of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and China-ASEAN Cultural Exchanges Year. Computers, fax, printers and translators for reporters are available, allowing more than 100 reporters to work at the same time. We will continue to set up the VIP interview rooms at the news center, inviting well-known, influential representatives or entrepreneurs in politics, business and academic circles from China and ASEAN countries to be interviewed by Chinese and foreign media. The interview list is available at the online news bulletin board. We will update the interview list the next day before 8:00pm. Friends from the press are welcome to attend.
Collecting comments and advice to improve news services
We will collect reporters' suggestions and comments through questionnaires and a public email address so as to provide reporters an unimpeded channel to express and enable them a stronger sense of participation. The public email address has been posted in the Guidebook for the Press. On September 17, we will hold China-Foreign Cooperative Media Exchanges and communicate with reporters face to face. We will listen to the suggestions and comments in publicity as well as in news service of the CAEXPO and CABIS. V. New platforms to improve service
This CAEXPO will further improve the CAEXPO’s platform of new media, such as Weibo, WeChat and mobile phone clients, for people to access CAEXPO information anytime and anywhere. More specific information can be found in the Notice of Obtaining News Material in the Guidebook for the Press, or by scanning the QR code at the bottom of the handbook or exhibited at the venues. The official Weibo and WeChat accounts of the CAEXPO will also carry out some activities with prizes such as "Taking a Photo of the CAEXPO," "the Opening Ceremony of the CAEXPO" and "Clicking the 'Like' Button for the CAEXPO." All reporters and friends at home and abroad are welcome to participate.
Continued improvement of the Guidebook for the Press
The Guidebook for the Press covers every aspect of information for reporters in this CAEXPO and can be obtained at the service counter. More information about news service can be found in the Guidebook for the Press and the Online News Center.
At last, I hope everyone will enjoy your time in Nanning. Have a nice day! Thank you all!
Yang Yanyan, deputy secretary-general of the CAEXPO secretariat
