Myanmar hosts national promotion conference

“Golden Myanmar: National Promotion Conference of Myanmar” hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry was held in the Nanning Exhibition Convention & Exhibition Center on the afternoon of Sept 17.

The conference discussed topics such as construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, investment and management cooperation in Greater Mekong Sub-Regional Cooperation, and promotion of extended and deep development of bilateral economy. Representatives in the conference agreed to further strengthen win-win cooperation in all fields between Myanmar and China as well as promote the deep development of China-Myanmar comprehensive partnership to realize mutual benefits.

Myanmar and China are linked by rivers and mountains, and both enjoy a long history and culture. Myanmar boasts abundant resources, fertile land and many rich natural resources such as minerals, marine aquatic products, oil and gas, forestry, water conservancy and electric power.

It is equipped with all kinds of resources to speed up development. As a federal republic, Myanmar has a population of about 60 million people, 68 percent of which are Burman people. Its culture is deeply influenced by Indian culture in aspects such as religion, literature and political systems. Agriculture and forestry are pillar industries in Myanmar. Its main crops include rice, jute, teak, vegetables and fruits.

In the conference, the relevant officials of the Myanmar National Planning and Development Department introduced Myanmar’s investment potential and cooperation opportunities. They showed off the region’s beautiful scenery, colorful ethnic customs, and brilliant and long-lasting history and culture, bringing great business opportunities in mutual cooperation to the countries and delegations attending the China-ASEAN Expo.

Moreover, representatives from Myanmar Mandalay Myo Tha Industrial Park gave a special promotion about “the Way to Mandalay,” which showed the developing potential of the industrial park to participants of the conference. Representatives from Myanmar and China both expressed wishes to constantly expand and deepen mutual cooperation. They said they would further strengthen cooperation in construction of infrastructure, processing and manufacturing, agriculture, mineral resources development and other fields.
