The city of Ruzhou, Henan province, has many places of interests that are ideal sites to visit in autumn. Here are the three top ones.
Ancient fortresses above Dayu village
The village of Dayu still has some old fortresses that are very exciting to explore. They're relics of the warring past, up on some precipitous mountains, with a splendid view. Their structure shows the ingenuity of our ancestors and, if you have enough time, you can also hear some of the legends about the battles that were fought here and the history of the village. Of all the fortresses, Liangjiazhai is the best preserved, covering a 3,000-square–meter space, with walls 8-meters in height and 2-m wide. The buildings are all made of slates, with four stories, the highest of which connects to the rest of fortress, and the two in the middle are for living, and a basement for storage. There are stairs and emergency exits connecting all four floors. The water system was advanced even by modern standards.
Address: Take National Highway 207 to Mayao village, then go 8 km eastward.
Jiufeng Mountain Forest Park
The mountain gets its name from nine peaks in the forest park running east to west, the highest being a little over 900 meters. The park covers about 8,000 square meters, and has at least 200 scenic spots.
Address: Go 3 km southeastward from Manzi village and you can drive into the park.
Jianggu Mountain Geological Park
The park is famous for its glacial sites and it gets its name from Jianggu Temple, which is up on a peak. The Luoquan Glacier relics include a moraine more than 300 meters thick.
Address: The park is 30 km from the city of Ruzhou, with buses running routinely from the city center to Luoquan village.
