China Mobile's Huang Xiaoqing becomes ONF V-P
The general manager of China Mobile's Research Institutes, Huang Xiaoqing, was recently named vice-president of the Open Network Foundation (ONF), a part of the international Software Defined Network (SDN) and the main organization for industry standards and promotions.
This makes Huang one of just four global V-Ps of the foundation, founded in 2011, which has many operators, network equipment businesses, and chip companies connected with it. SDN is a new generation network technology whose purpose is global network scheduling and open network services through centralized control, as part of global network evolution.
After joining ONF, China Mobile established an operator SDN discussion group and took part in establishing interface, architecture, optical transmission, and wireless mobile standards. It also promoted SDN applications in the IP network as well as data centers, optical transmission, and mobile packet core networks, which laid a foundation for CM's network evolution and development. It also accelerated the international SDN standardization process.
CM then announced the deployment of an SPTN SDN commercial network, in August, and it is getting ready to complete SDN pilot work five provinces, in data centers, IP bearing network, and a transmission network, this year, and to promote the intelligent development and automation of the network.
