There was a delegation from Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, that visited Pingyao county, Shanxi province, on Oct 20, to discuss relics preservation and world heritage site application, which included Lhasa's vice-mayor, Wu Yasong, and visited the tourist service center, Confucian Temple, old city walls, and other key cultural sites to learn more about their management.

Afterwards, there was a symposium, where the Lhasa officials described their cultural resources and preparations for getting the city on the World Cultural Heritage list and a discussion of culture industry development, tourism programs, and combining culture with tourism.

The Lhasa visitors proposed increasing communications between the two sites and cooperating in cultural resource and tourism management.
