Among the five achievement exhibition halls of the 2014 China Ocean Economy Expo (COEE), the international pavilion lies in the core area of the International Axis. With an exhibition area of nearly 3,000 square meters, the international pavilion has a half-outdoor exhibition hall, which has also made it an important picture image of the 2014 COEE.

Different from the ocean theme pavilion, marine fishery pavilion and national pavilion, the international pavilion interprets the ocean from a macroscopic perspective. The theme of the international pavilion highlights the symbiosis of ocean, maritime cities, marine ecology and marine culture. It reflects the leading position of the coastal areas within 200 kilometers, acting as the main urban belt in the industrial age of human beings, in the global economy. Introductory videos along with physical displays will demonstrate the prosperity and development of coastal cities in different countries with different cultures.

Many forums will be held in the international pavilion during the exhibition, covering topics such as smart cities, smart energy, new developing opportunities of maritime cities and the problem of the rising sea level. All the countries, areas and cities can attend the forums, which provide a platform for the mutual exchange of coastal states and areas.

So far, the organizing committee of COEE has gone to Shanghai and Guangzhou to hold marketing conferences in order to attract investment. Official and commercial representatives from more than 20 countries took part in the conferences. It is expected that the exhibition will invite exhibitors from countries such as Denmark, Britain, France, Russia, Malaysia, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Finland, South Korea, Singapore, and so on.
